Privacy Policy

Effective October 1, 2026 · Last updated October 1, 2026

The short version. We collect what’s needed to run your celebration — your account, what hosts publish, RSVPs, photos guests choose to share, and purchase records. We don’t show ads, we don’t use advertising or analytics trackers, and we never sell or rent your information. Apple processes all payments; we never see your card. You can delete your account in the app at any time.

Who we are

GuestNest is an app and website for hosting weddings and other celebrations. It is operated by Vet Easy Inc. (“GuestNest”, “we”, “us”). This policy explains what we collect when you use the GuestNest iOS app, the website at this address and related services (together, the “Service”), and the choices you have.

For a celebration’s guest list, RSVPs and content, the hosts who run that celebration decide what to collect and who to invite; we process that information on their behalf to provide the Service. For your account, purchases and the security of the Service, we are responsible.

GuestNest asks for access to your camera, photo library and calendar only when you use a feature that needs it (sharing a photo, saving a photo, adding an event to your calendar). Calendar events are written to your device; we don’t read your calendar. We don’t collect your precise location, contacts or browsing history, and we don’t use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.

How we use information

  • To provide the Service — creating and showing celebrations, letting you join with a code or invite link, saving RSVPs, showing photos, seating and song requests, and translating content you choose to translate.
  • To send notifications that hosts send to their guests, and service messages about your account or purchases.
  • To verify purchases with Apple, apply them to the right celebration and remove unlocks that Apple refunds.
  • To keep the Service safe — enforcing limits, preventing abuse and fraud, and responding to reports.
  • To support you and respond to your enquiries.
  • To meet legal obligations, such as tax and accounting requirements or lawful requests.

We do not sell or rent personal information, “share” it for cross-context behavioural advertising, use it to build advertising profiles, or track you across other companies’ apps and websites.

Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on: performance of our contract with you (providing the Service), our legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention and improving reliability), your consent (notifications and device permissions, which you can withdraw in iOS Settings) and legal obligations.

Who can see what

  • Hosts (the owner and co-hosts of a celebration) can see the member list, every household’s RSVP including dietary notes and other answers, all uploaded photos and videos, song requests and seating.
  • Guests can see the celebration’s published content and updates, photos approved for the wall, song requests, their own household’s RSVP and, if the hosts turn it on, their table.
  • Updates can be addressed to particular sides or groups to keep things relevant, but this is a convenience, not a privacy control — any member of a celebration may be able to read its updates.
  • Celebrations are private: they are not listed or searchable, and only people with the join code or an invite link can join. Anyone a host gives the code to can join, so hosts should share it only with people they invite.

Service providers

We use a small number of providers who process information on our behalf under contract:

  • Google Firebase (Google LLC) — Firebase Authentication (sign-in), Cloud Firestore (database), Cloud Storage (photos, videos and images), Cloud Functions (server logic) and Firebase Cloud Messaging (push notifications). Our project is hosted in the United States.
  • Apple — Sign in with Apple, App Store payments and refunds, App Store Server Notifications and Apple Push Notification service.
  • Google Sign-In — if you choose to sign in with Google.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights, safety and property of our users or others, or as part of a merger or acquisition (in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information).

Retention & deletion

  • Your account is kept until you delete it. You can delete it in the app under Account → Delete account. Deleting your account removes your profile, memberships, the photos and videos you uploaded and celebrations you own; household RSVPs you replied with in other people’s celebrations stay with those hosts, unlinked from you. See account deletion for details.
  • Celebrations and their content, RSVPs and unlocks are kept until the owner deletes the celebration or deletes their account (photos and videos have their own retention period, below). Hosts can delete individual households, photos and other content at any time.
  • Photos and videos are kept for 12 months after the celebration’s date (for a celebration without a date, 12 months after a date 18 months from when it was created), then deleted automatically — the original files, their captions and upload records. Hosts are reminded about 30 and 7 days before, and are always given at least 7 days’ notice. They are removed sooner if you or a host deletes them, you delete your account, or the celebration is deleted. Uploads that exceed the celebration’s storage are removed automatically.
  • Push tokens are removed when you delete your account or when they stop working.
  • Purchase records are kept for as long as needed for accounting, tax, refund handling and fraud prevention, even after a celebration is deleted.
  • Support emails are kept as long as needed to resolve your request.

Deleted information is removed from our live systems promptly; residual copies held by our providers for reliability are overwritten on their normal schedules.

Your choices & rights

  • Access and correct: you can view and edit your profile, RSVPs and language in the app.
  • Delete: delete your account in the app, or email us if you can’t sign in.
  • Notifications and permissions: turn notifications, camera and photo access on or off in iOS Settings.
  • Leave a celebration at any time from inside it.
  • Other rights: depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK, California or Canada), you may have the right to request a copy of your information, ask us to restrict or stop certain processing, or receive your data in a portable format. Email privacy@guestnestapp.com; we will respond within the time required by law and won’t treat you differently for exercising your rights. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.

If your information is part of a celebration you were invited to (for example, a host added your name to a household), you can also ask that celebration’s hosts to change or remove it.

Children

GuestNest accounts are not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Hosts and parents may list a child’s name in a household RSVP; they are responsible for doing so appropriately. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Security & international transfers

Information is encrypted in transit and at rest by our providers. Access is controlled by security rules that limit each person to the celebrations they belong to and their role, and purchases are verified with Apple’s signed records. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your sign-in method secure and share join codes only with your guests.

Our providers store GuestNest data in the United States. If you use GuestNest from elsewhere, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, protected by our providers’ contractual safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses).

Changes & contact

We will post any changes here and update the date above. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
